Bags, Boards & Good Times: Join Us for Our Cornhole Tournament This Weekend
There is just something about a Saturday afternoon in the pines — good company, a little friendly competition, and the satisfying sound of a cornhole bag landing right on the board.
This weekend, we are bringing all of that together at In The Pines RV & Cabin Village for a Cornhole Tournament on Saturday, September 19 at 2:00 PM. Whether you are the kind of player who practices every toss or you simply know how to aim in the general direction of the board, come join the fun.
The tournament is part of our 2026 guest event calendar, and like our other scheduled events, it is complimentary for registered guests unless otherwise noted. So grab your camping crew, find your throwing partner, and get ready for an afternoon of laughs, competition, and memories under the North Carolina pines.
Cornhole Just Feels Right at the Campground
Start the Fun Friday Evening
On Friday at 5:00 PM, guests can gather around the firepit for our Weekend Kick-Off Social. Adults can enjoy a complimentary beer or glass of wine, while everyone can settle in with s’mores.
It is the kind of easygoing evening that camping weekends are made for. Meet your neighbors, catch up with friends, spend a little time by the fire, and perhaps size up the competition before Saturday’s first bag flies.
Cornhole has always fit naturally into campground life. It is simple enough for newcomers to jump in, competitive enough to keep things interesting, and best of all, it brings people together.
That spirit is a big part of life at In The Pines.
Our 40-acre campground is tucked among the loblolly pines of coastal North Carolina, with 30 RV sites and eight cozy cabins for guests who want to make a full weekend of it. When you are not tossing bags, there is plenty more to enjoy around the property. Take a dip in the pool, wander the walking trails, try gem and fossil mining, send the kids off on Blackbeard’s Lost Treasure Hunt, visit the playground or jump pad, play a round of gaga ball, or give your four-legged camping buddy some freedom at the dog park. Guests can even reserve a llama trekking experience through the quiet pine forest.
In other words, the tournament may be Saturday’s main event, but it certainly does not have to be the only adventure of the weekend.
Turn Tournament Weekend Into a Coastal Carolina Getaway
One of the best things about staying In The Pines is that you can enjoy the quiet of the campground while still being close to some of southeastern North Carolina’s favorite coastal destinations.
Oak Island beaches are about 20 minutes away, giving you an easy option for a Saturday morning walk by the ocean or some extra beach time on Sunday. Oak Island offers nearly 10 miles of beachfront and dozens of public beach access points.
Just 15 minutes from the campground, historic Southport offers a completely different way to spend a few hours. Stroll along the Cape Fear River, explore its tree-lined downtown streets, browse local shops and galleries, learn about the town’s maritime history, or grab a meal near the waterfront.
And if you want to stretch the weekend a little farther, Wilmington is about 30 minutes away. Its historic River District, scenic Riverwalk, restaurants, shops, gardens, museums, and Cape Fear River views make it an easy addition to a coastal weekend itinerary.
That means you can spend the morning near the water, compete in the tournament that afternoon, and be back at your campsite or cabin in time to relax around the fire.
Who Is Taking Home the Cornhole Bragging Rights?
Maybe you have been waiting all summer to show off your cornhole skills. Maybe your strategy is mostly enthusiasm and good luck. Either way, we want you there.
Join us Saturday, September 19 at 2:00 PM for an afternoon of cornhole, community, and good old-fashioned campground fun.
Come for the tournament. Stay for the pool, trails, campfires, s’mores, coastal adventures, and everything else that makes a weekend In The Pines worth remembering.
