We want this website to work for everyone who wants to go camping, including people using a screen reader, a keyboard, voice control or a magnified screen. This page says what we have done about it and how to tell us when we have got it wrong.

Our accessibility goal
We aim to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA. That is a goal we build towards, not a certification: this site has not had an independent accessibility audit, so we do not claim a conformance level we have not had verified. We would rather hear from you and fix a real barrier than publish a badge we do not hold. If you find something that fails, we would rather hear it from you than not know.
Get Help With Website Information
- Real headings in order. Every page has one
h1 and a sensible heading structure under it, so a screen reader can skim the page the way a sighted reader does.
- A keyboard path through everything. The menus, the drawer on small screens, the gallery lightbox, the events filters and the accordions can all be reached and operated with Tab, Enter, the arrow keys and Escape. Focus is visible wherever it lands.
- Described images. Every photograph has alt text written for it, describing what is actually in the picture rather than repeating the page title.
- Color contrast. Body text, headings and buttons are checked against the AA contrast ratios, including the text over photographs.
- Text that resizes. The layout is built in relative units and holds together at 200% zoom without clipping or horizontal scrolling.
- Tables that make sense out loud. The comparison tables have proper row and column headers and a caption, so they can be read in a non-visual order.
- Forms with labels. Every field has a visible label tied to it, and errors are explained in words rather than by turning a box red.
- No motion traps. Nothing flashes, nothing auto-plays with sound, and the one video on the site is muted and decorative.
- It works without JavaScript. The content, the navigation links and the phone number are all in the page itself. Scripts improve the experience; they are not required to read the site or find out how to reach us.
Third-Party Features
Pages are checked by keyboard only, at 200% zoom, against automated accessibility tooling, and by reading the markup for the things automated tools cannot see, whether a heading is a heading or just bold text, and whether alt text says anything useful.
Known Gaps We Are Working On
- The booking system is a third-party application on NewBook’s own domain. We do not control its markup. If it causes you trouble, call 910.845.5040 and we will take your booking over the phone. That is a real offer, not a brush-off.
- The park map is an image, so everything on it is also written out in text on the park map page. If you would rather see the place than read about it, the 360° virtual tour walks you through the park, and the office will talk you round a site over the phone.
- Some PDFs and press material came from elsewhere and may not be tagged for screen readers. Ask us and we will send you the content in a format that works.
Report an Accessibility Issue
Email hello@inthepinesrv.com or call 910.845.5040. It helps if you can tell us the page, what you were trying to do, and what you are using to browse, but a sentence saying “the gallery will not open with my keyboard” is plenty to get us started.
We aim to reply as quickly as we can and to fix genuine barriers rather than explain them. If something will take a while, we will tell you what the workaround is in the meantime.
